DISH OF THE WEEK: Sour Cream Apple Walnut Pie at LITTLE PIE COMPANY

Every week, I document another dish that impressed and satiated me during my food adventures around New York City

It’s very rare that I donate two posts in one week to the same food establishment. But I was so impressed by the sour cream walnut apple pie at Little Pie Company when I filmed the July 4th video, that I haven’t stopped thinking about it since.

All the action is captured in this video below. If you haven’t watched it yet, check it out here. It’s a perfect way to work up an appetite for Independence Day.

Their signature sour cream  apple walnut pie  is the one Arnold first baked when he started his business almost 30 years ago. And it’s no doubt still the most popular – available at the store by the slice, in 5-inches, 8-inches, and 10-inches. No size is big enough for this addictive treat.

Thinly sliced apple slivers are layered on top of each other, folded with sour cream, assembled in a butter crust and then topped with caramelized walnuts and sugar. The sour cream really helps cut the sweetness and the crunch from the walnuts brings an incredible texture. Once you try this, you’ll wonder why your mom never made pie this good.

Here’s wishing everyone a very Happy Fourth of July! And hope you get to have your apple pie (this one would be best) and eat it too!
